Nirma University realizes the fact that excellence of its education system essentially depends on the quality, character, proficiency and commitment of the faculty members. To meet these requirements, the Centre for Quality Assurance and Academic Development (CQAAD) at Nirma University regularly organizes faculty orientation programme for professional development of its faculty members and to orient them towards becoming potential partners in the University building. The CQAAD organized two-week long Faculty Orientation Program for its fifth batch during December 17-31, 2018. The program was intended for faculty participants with more than two years of teaching experience from across the University. Fourteen faculty members from different constituent Institutes of Nirma University participated in the Faculty Orientation Programme.
The primary objective of the program was to enhance the proficiency and competence of the faculty members by discussing the modern day skills for effective classroom teaching, developing his/her personality to work as a teacher, mentor, professional and leader. The program also aimed at enabling the faculty members to relate with the organization and management of the university in a much better way and analyze new teaching learning techniques self-sufficiently.
Based on the above objectives, the program content was divided into four modules namely, (i) Effective Classroom Teaching and Pedagogy, (ii) Learning of Soft Skills and Personality Development (iii) Knowledge about University System and (iv) Resource awareness and knowledge generation. The programme content was delivered by 30 eminent speakers through a combination of Theory lectures, Video Lectures, Group Discussion, Role play, Exercises, Case studies, Presentations from Participants etc. The programme further included site visit to Blind People’s Association, Vastrapur, Ahmedabad.
