Expert Talk on UK-India Relations: Focus on Education and Research

Mr Peter Cook Expert Talk

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Nirma University, invited Mr Peter Cook, British Deputy High Commissioner for Gujarat and Rajasthan, to deliver an expert talk on ?UK-India Relations: Focus on Education and Research? on January 21, 2023.

In his talk, Mr Cook briefed on how education and research exchanges between the two countries could strengthen the relationship between India and the UK. He also shares of enhancing the bilateral exchange of both the students and faculty members in joint PhD and Master?s Programmes. He also emphasised collaborative research between industries, Indian universities, and universities of the UK.

Mr Cook mentioned the probable areas where an exchange could encourage building a solid foundation between Nirma University and the universities in the UK. The identified areas were Electric Vehicles and Battery Technology, Blockchain Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Sustainable Development, Marine Sciences, Energy, Bioinformatics, Material Development, Pharma Sector, Innovative Design, Communication Skills, etc.

Mr Cook also emphasised Nirma University applying for the funding schemes of the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) would enhance the educational linkages between India and the UK.

Dr Anup K Singh, Director General, Nirma University; Dr P N Tekwani, Director, Directorate of Research and Innovation; Dr Tejal Mehta, Director, IQAC, with over 300 faculty members and doctoral students from various constituent institutes of the Nirma University attended the session.
