Training Programme for Laboratory Assistants, Office Assistants and Library Assistants

The Centre for Quality Assurance & Academic Development (CQAAD), Nirma University organized Training Programme for administrative staff viz. Laboratory Assistants, Office Assistants and Library Assistants of the constituent Institutes of the University. The training programme was attended by 42 administrative staff members from the University office and administrative offices of different constituent Institutes under Nirma University.

The primary focus of the training programme was to equip administrative staff members with professional and personal growth through wider exposure to relevant knowledge skills and present day technology. The training programme aimed at enhancing knowledge of the participant about the regulatory framework for the functioning of the University, develop functional skills for effective performance in their job and improve soft skills for overall development of the participant. Accordingly, the programme included sessions on topics like Rules and Regulation, Student Admission Process, Purchase Procedure and Delegation of Powers, System of Audit, Academic Regulations, System of Examination at Nirma University.

To enhance the soft skills of the participants there were sessions on Communication Skills (Written and Oral), Lessons for Life Management, Confidence Building, Hygiene and 5S. Sessions on Microsoft Office, Management Information System, Computer Maintenance and Operations enriched the participants with latest computer skills. Session on Student Centrism and Support elaborated what should be the approach of the administrative staff in dealing with the students.

In addition sessions on Preparation of Laboratory Session, Virtual Laboratory, Maintenance of Laboratory Equipment, Safety Measures During Daily Work etc. were organized for the laboratory assistants. For the library assistants sessions on Library Manual and Policies, Library Services and Ethics, Search Strategy, Automation and Digitization of Library Resources etc. were organized.

The programme content was delivered by twenty six eminent resource persons through combination of theory, practical/hands-on-sessions, etc.
