A Seminar on “Public Education in the United States” by Dr. Steven Robinson, Former Special Advisor, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education, (USA) was organized on March 20, 2019 Wednesday by Centre for Quality Assurance and Academic Development (CQAAD), Nirma University.
Dr. Steven spoke about the Overall Structure of Higher Education in United States and challenges therein in the first half of his talk. In the second half he discussed the Education Policy of US, role of state and district authorities in the higher education eco-system. Towards the end of his seminar, Dr. Steven discussed US government’s “Individuals with Disabilities Education Act” to give special educational services to students with disabilities who need such services and “Race to the Top” reform for enacting rigorous, internationally benchmarked standards and attracting and retaining good teachers.
